🎸 The Answer
Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop R0, neck pickup
This was a Les Paul, not a Stratocaster. The majority of guitarists who took this test guessed Stratocaster.
Why most people got it wrong:
Marketing myths pollute our ears. We often "hear" with our eyes and brains, not our actual ears. The guitar's voice is where every tone begins, but most players cannot identify it.
What to listen for:
Les Pauls typically have a warmer, thicker tone with more sustain due to the mahogany body and set neck construction. The neck pickup position adds even more warmth and bass response.
